Candy. Well, really CHOCOLATE was always one of those food with no brakes, no self-control type of foods for me. I could never just enjoy a piece and it be done. In fact, I remember stopping by Rite Aid on my way home almost every day from Christmas- Easter because they had the individually wrapped Reese’s trees, hearts and eggs or the caramel stuffed chocolates for buy 1 get 1 free. I’d buy a “reasonable” but not so judgy amount from the cashier and eat them all in the car on my 5 minute drive home and get rid of the trash where no one else could find it. This is addiction.
But I also LOVE chocolate so what do I do? Well, I got help. I’ve been in therapy and have spent the last 3 and a half years really focusing on changing my relationship with food. I’ve reintroduced various types of chocolates and candy and here is what I’ve found. There’s actually better quality (and yes, more expensive) chocolates out there that I prefer over the ones I used to eat.
I don’t just eat the ones below because they are “more healthy” for me but because I genuinely think they taste better. They also make me feel better physically and emotionally and I am far less likely to binge on the ones below.
Perk is, they do have better ingredients without so many additives and less sugar which I know you parents reading this can appreciate.
Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy a Reese’s peanut butter egg when it’s worth it but most of the time I find myself gravitating towards the sweets listed below. This is not an exclusive list but these are just some of the ones that my hubby and I have tried and loved. There are plenty out there I know I haven’t gotten my hands on yet!
Absolutely none of these are sponsored or affiliate links, just a resource I want to share with you!
Regardless, I hope you eat whatever chocolate you chose because it is a deliberate, conscious and guilt free choice that you are making for YOU that let’s you lead your absolute best life. <3
For the Chocolate Lovers
Hu Kitchen Chocolate Bars – you can’t go wrong with any flavor but the one with vanilla bean is my fave. I also went to Hu Kitchen in NYC and if you ever get the opportunity I highly recommend! You can also find Hu Kitchen bars on Thrive Market with this link.
Eating Evolved – another favorite. This is the variety pacthrivemarket.com/…/theo-chocolate-orange-organic-dark-chocolate-70-cocoak but the crunchy caramel is my favorite.
Theo Chocolates – most of the grocery stores where I shop have these which is nice so I don’t have to order online.
Justin’s Nut Butter Cups – I can also find these at most grocery stores! Great option if peanut butter is in your food freedom!
For the Candy lover:
YumEarth Lollipops – a must have if your kiddos (or you) love suckers! I can also find this brand at Target a lot of the time!
YumEarth Fruit snacks – great for school lunches, snacks and Easter Baskets!
YumEarth Gummy Bears – my hubby is a gummy bear expert. Trust me. And these past the test!
